Sushi Time

So over time I have developed a real love for sushi. What I haven't developed is a love of paying for sushi!  So I decided to try and make my own.

I went on Amazon (my favorite retailer) and ordered two bamboo rolling mats. Then I took a trip to Sprouts (my favorite grocery store) and bought seaweed, ginger, wasabi and other goodies!

Tonight I took the plunge and rolled my first sushi roll. It came out pretty good and tasted even better!  I may just put the local sushi places out of business!

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
- Psalm 51:10

Farmers Market Day

One of our favorite weekend family activities when we lived in California was going to the local Farmers Market. So, we are going to try and revive that tradition here in Texas!

The girls declared themselves the official "greeters" and hung out at the entrance welcoming people!

In spite of the boiling heat, the kids had a great time.

Here is some of our bounty from our first family Farmers Market trip - here's to many more!

but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
- Isaiah 40:31

Summer Camp Here We Come!

We signed the girls up for a two week session of Sumer Camp this year at the same school that Emma attended this year.

They have really enjoyed it but come home dripping wet from playing in the 100 degree heat!

The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?

- Psalm 27:1

Happy Fourth of July

We hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day!

Ours was very low key. We stayed out of the heat and went to see Monsters University.

And to work up our appetite we watched Nathan's hot dog eating contest!

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy

and to walk humbly with your God.
- Micah 6:8
