The Day is Finally Here!!

Any time the girls hear that Nana & Papa (my parents) or Grandma & Grandpa (Chris's parents) are coming to visit they immediately start a calendar countdown.  This most recent visit with my parents was no different and the anticipation in the days leading up to their arrival was palpable in our house.

Well, we finally got to THE BIG DAY and I drove two very excited and giggly girls to meet Nana and Papa.

As you may guess from the picture - my girls probably weren't the only ones counting down to this day!

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

Emma's Firehouse Fieldtrip

For the past two weeks, Emma has been asking/begging to go on her firehouse field trip. Every day over spring break she would wake up asking “how many more sleeps until I see the firemen?
So today, you can imagine her thrill when the day had finally arrived!

She had a great time touring the fire station and learning about what a fireman/firewoman does on a daily basis.
The highlight of course was getting to spray the water hose.

All in all, I think today lived up to her expectations and then some!!

The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Monumental Monday Morning Moment

Our Monday began with a monumental moment for us. We took Grace to the dentist to have two of her baby teeth pulled. Her first permanent tooth came up over a month ago with nowhere to go, so the baby teeth had to get a little “help” from the dentist.

Below is the before picture - one last chance to capture her baby tooth smile :(

Grace was a champion, no crying or complaining. She was so strong and handled it better than Chris and I for sure!

I wasn’t emotional about it at all until I got home and realized that the two teeth that were pulled were her first two she ever had. All parents out there remember how excited you are with the appearance of the first tooth. Now only a few short years later, the symbolic and so anticipated first teeth are gone and the adult teeth are coming in.

Her after picture:
So, onward we go, with the hopes that the rest of her teeth come out a bit more naturally!!

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Rejoice He is Risen - Easter 2012

We had a nice, quiet, low-key Easter this year. Here is a look at our day!

The girls woke up to their Easter baskets that they got to open before church.

A quick picture before church - with hats.

Another one before church - without hats - and because I think they are cute!

After church services, the girls took part in the church Easter egg hunt. They had a great time and as you can see Emma was very intent on the task at hand!

I remembered to prepare the eggs for dying on Saturday, but we didn't get around to decorating them until Monday!

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Grace & Her Spring Concert

Grace had her first school concert last Thursday. She was so excited and had been talking about it for weeks. The concert was only Kindergarten and 1st grade and it was so cute!

The girls were having some sweet sister time on our walk to the concert.

Emma and Chris couldn't take their eyes off the singers!

After the big show Chris gave Grace some congratulatory tulips. She loves them and every time she looks at the flowers, she talks about the concert again and usually sings a few songs!

It was a great night and one of the many situations where we find ourselves looking at each other and wondering where the time is going and how did we get to be the parents of a kid this age!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
