Our January Invasion of San Francisco

We have been compiling a "bucket list" of places we want to visit and things we want to do in San Francisco. So, today we decided to head on into the city and get some of those items crossed off!!

We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day - upper 60's and not a cloud in the sky (in San Francisco that is a big, big deal!).

We started the day with a Ride the Ducks tour. For those of you that don't know, a duck tour is one that goes on land and sea (like a duck!). We had a great time - all the girls cared about was the duck quackers that they had and used A LOT!!

After the tour, we drove over to the marina - my favorite part of the city - for a picnic lunch and a game of tag with dad.

Next we headed over to Twin Peaks. They are two little hills in the city that gives you a 360 degree view of the city. It was our first time going up there and wow was it worth it - the views were amazing and made even better with the perfect weather that we had.

We finished the day with a 90's flashback by going over to see the Painted Ladies - Full House anyone?? The Painted Ladies are a well known strip of Victorian row houses in San Francisco and were made mainstream famous by being in the opening credits of the show Full House.

Today was a great day. We had a really good time and got to see some great parts of one of the coolest cities that we have ever been to. We feel very fortunate to being living in Northern California and so close to so many great places.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Good-bye 2011 - Bring on 2012!

So, once again I have let a long period of time pass since my last blog post. I have several friends who blog and keep up with it so well and have far more going on in their lives than I do, so I can’t offer any excuses!!

Perhaps I should add “more blogging” to my resolutions this year!!

I thought I would cover just a few highlights from our Holiday Break. Here in our district, the kids get off from school both the week before and the week after Christmas. All in all, Grace got off 19 days in a row!!

Chris took a few days off the week before Christmas as he had to work the week after. So, during his days off we did a few fun family things.

We took the girls to see The Muppets at the theatre. It is always a risk to take Emma anywhere that requires you to be still and/or quiet. The fact that the movies require both are a challenge!! This was her second time at a theatre and she did really well – for Emma!!

The next day we decided to have an indoor “camp out” in the living room in front of the Christmas tree. So, in keeping with the camping spirit we have s’mores ahead of time. Emma thought they were gross because they got on her fingers, but Grace chowed down and wanted more!

So, after we chiseled off the melted marshmallows, Chris, Grace and Emma got settled in for the night in their tent. Sadly, Emma only lasted a little while and ended up going into her own bed and slept really well all night!! Otherwise, the indoor camp out was a great success!

The rest of the break was spent reading books, playing games, bike rides and just hanging out without the rush rush that defines our normal routines!!

We had a nice, quiet and low key Christmas here with just the four of us. We are all really enjoying being able to wake up in our own house and have slower holidays out here!

We wish you all a wonderful happy and healthy 2012!! Hopefully, you will be hearing more about us via this blog – but I wouldn’t hold your breath on that!!
